For Marianne
Marianne is truly one of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. She moved to Key West five years ago and immediately became a part of the "one human family". She began work for Tony Falcone at Fast Buck Freddie’s. When Fast Bucks announced their upcoming closure Marianne accepted a position with Sam Trophia and George Fernandez at The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory.
Sales and customer service come easy to Marianne as she is such a warm, welcoming, truly caring person. Almost immediately she became an irreplaceable member of the butterfly family. For years life was going along very well. Meeting and greeting travelers from all over the world, educating them about Nature, and spreading her genuine love of butterflies during her work week and spending time with her wonderful husband Larry out enjoying life in the Fabulous Florida Keys during her off time.
Then on October 16th of this year Marianne went to see the doctors at WomanKind about a tender spot in her left breast. Soon thereafter Marianne was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer).
Since then life has been filled with doctors, tests, invasive procedures and many, many long drives to the Baptist Health Breast Center in Miami.
Marianne is truly fighting this with all she’s got and she will prevail but it is likely to be a long, expensive battle of chemotherapy, surgical procedures, and follow up radiation. Due to the aggressive nature of her particular cancer her team of doctors (oncologists and surgeons) have decided it is best for her to do the majority of her treatments at the Baptist Breast Center in Miami so there will be the additional cost of driving and staying in Miami for each treatment spanning the next 6 months.
Please consider helping Marianne. Any amount will help. If you cannot help her financially please consider donating your time to other fundraising efforts.
