Help for our friend Renten

We are friends of Renten and Simon Paul in the Givins/Shaw community. Renten is a sweet 10-year-old boy who is friends with our kids. He holds a special place in all our hearts, not just because he's such a happy-go-lucky little guy, but also because he has lived through so much at such a young age.
Renten was born with left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy. His mother Karla also had left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy, but she did not know she had it until she was pregnant with Renten. Sadly, Karla passed away in January 2015 of heart complications. She was only 41.
Renten and Simon are still coping with their heartbreak.
So it seems especially unfair that Renten has just been diagnosed with a rare cancer called Burkitt lymphoma. Last week he started chemotherapy as an inpatient at Sick Kids hospital. Doctors will have to keep a close eye on Renten since his immune system is already compromised. He'll undergo four tough months of chemotherapy. The good news is, Burkitt lymphoma is highly curable. But it's going to be another tough year for Renten and Simon.
What we want most now is to support Simon - a single dad who is rushing to work each day and sleeping at the hospital each night. Once Renten is out of the hospital, Simon will need to be home to care for him full time. We want Simon to think only about being with Renten, and not about parking fees, hydro bills and mortgage payments. We want to wrap him in a hug of money to unburden him as much as we possibly can.
If you can help out, know that it will be so very much appreciated by Simon. And know that you'll be helping out a very special family.
Let's show Renten and Simon how much we care.
