Fort Frederick Cannon Fund
Tax deductible
Please help the Friends of Fort Frederick State Park purchase a cannon for the historical interpretation programs at Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool, Maryland. Fort Frederick, is the only stone Colonial Frontier fort in Maryland (originally built in 1756 and reconstructed in the 1930 by the CCC). The park interpretive staff, dressed in period clothing, provide an active historical interpretive presence for the time periods of the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. However, the Fort has been without an operational cannon for several years, since the existing cannon was determined to be unsuitable for further use. The loss of the cannon has greatly reduced the experience for visiting public at the fort, especially school groups, as cannon firing demonstration was an integral part of interpreting the history of the Fort. This funding campaign is to gather sufficient funds to meet a matching fund grant amount that will cover the cost of purchasing a new cannon, a naval carriage mount, and all necessary hardware and accoutrement tools for firing. Grant monies have been applied for, but matching funds are necessary to secure the grant. Please help us realize our goal. Thank You for viewing our “Go Fund Me” site. Friends of Fort Frederick State Park, Inc. is a 501-C nonprofit charity group that helps to fund projects and items not otherwise covered within the state-provided budget, to enhance the mission of the State Park. Your donation to this fund is tax deductible as a contribution to a 501-C Charitable Organization.
