Fort Good Hope COVID relief
What we are doing
We are fundraising for Fort Good Hope to help families and the community during this COVID outbreak. We are fundraising with the blessing of Chief Tommy Kakfwi and his team who are coordinating the on-the-ground community response. We are following the direction of Brenda T'selei Pierrot who has been coordinating home deliveries. They will continue to provide direction for what the funds will be spent on. So far, requests include:
- food for food hampers (meat, rice etc.)
- painkillers (the store is out of them)
- diapers and formula
- shipping / freight costs
- cleaning supplies
- pre-made meals for those helping in the response in Fort Good Hope
We understand that the stores in Fort Good Hope have been running out of some of these supplies so we will send a first delivery on Monday and continue to add cargo where there is space on incoming planes and where need and resources remain.
The funds may also be used to support other Sahtu communities if / as requested.
Let's show Fort Good Hope and the Sahtu some love!
Who we are
We are staff at PlanIt North , a community planning and communications firm located in Yellowknife, which has had the privilege in recent years of supporting Fort Good Hope leadership organizations in community projects. We are coordinating this fundraiser, shopping and delivery on a volunteer basis. 100% of proceeds will be used to purchase the requested supplies for shipping from Yellowknife and/or transferred directly to the K'asho Got'ine Dene Band so that they can purchase supplies directly. (Less the fees that GoFund Me charges to cover their transaction costs).
Please message me, Christine Wenman, if you have any questions.
