You may know my dear friends, Salvatore and Daymien as the owners of HOM on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge . They had decided to temporarily close the HoM store early March as precautionary measures in fear of risking their families, and customers.
Sal and Daymien took shelter in the parents home to care for them during this time. Sal and Robert (brother, and only sibling) are suffering the terrible loss of both their beloved parents. Their parents deceased from Covid-19 within two days of each other. As many already know they passed with no family and friends near since hospitals are not allowing any visitors. Artie’s (his father) funeral was on Monday April 6th. There is over a month’s waitlist for Helen’s (mom) services. It saddens me to say that Sal and Daymien were unable to attend their father’s funeral since they were exposed while caring for them. They mourned together at parents home in fear of continuously spreading this deadly virus.
I am raising money to help Sal and his family get through these tough times. There are unforeseen costs for two funerals added to their normal bills all while their small business (and only income) is forced to be closed. I am asking friends, family, and our neighbors to help donate to the Forte family in this time of need. Any contributions if possible will help with funeral costs, and ensure the HoM store legacy will continue to spread laughter and joy after this pandemic is over.
Please treasure your loved ones, take care, and be safe.
