Earth Sciences Foundation

My name is Tom Hebert and I am the founder and director of the Earth Sciences Foundation Inc.  I created the Earth Sciences Foundation Inc to provide an opportunity to work on research in earth sciences and create an environment to allow for earth sciences to be available for everyone to be involved and learn.  We have 7 key inititiatives that vary from veterans programs in earth sciences, engaging the youth of today in earth sciences,  creating online interactive maps for educational settings as well as in home for people to interact with paleontology.   Our mission is to advance research and collaboration in the earth sciences and to make that available for the public to access in their homes, schools, and museums.  The purpose of this go fund me campaign is to raise enough money to purchase additional GNSS equipment for making the interactive maps and to provide funding for internships for students and veterans to get involved in field work and earth sciences.   We spend about 3 months out in the field each summer digging up fossils, mostly dinosaurs, mapping and curating each specimen and then populating the map with this data.  Our goal is to pay for all the costs for the internships in regards to lodging, food, equipment, and a small stipend.  We are looking to offer 4-6 internships this summer and more in the future.  If enough funding is raised we can offer even more opportunities for more students and veterans.  The skills that the interns will gain will include locating and exhuming fossils, using proper digging techniques, field fossil prep, integration of technology to create interactive and searchable maps of paleontological dig sites, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills.  For or Veterans program we are looking at taking military verterans out into the field to dig dinosaurs.  Taking the skills they learned from serving our country and applying them to earth sciences as well as provide a thereapeutic environment for them to deal with the stresses of their military careers and potential PTSD effects.  Thank you for your support and your support of science, students, youth, and our military.  Find the Earth Sciences Foundation Inc on Facebook as well as on our website at letsdig.org.  We will be posting updates and stories as we go to keep everyone informed on our progress and the research we are doing.  If you have any specific questions on our mission, research or our other intiatives please email me at [email redacted].
