Foster family needs a bigger house!
Donation protected
I own a very small foster care agency in Colorado. Collectively, our tribe has 9 families and 21 kids between them all.
One of my foster families, Erin and Tom, need a bigger house.
Here's why.
Erin and Tom have five biological children- wonderful children- from 6 to 13 years old.
And then.
They committed to foster a beautiful little blonde sibling group of three: Bree, 5, and twins Heather and Leon, 15 months.
Erin said that something about that emailed referral for the siblings spoke to her. She couldn't say no-and never turned back! Prior to this move, the children were split into two different temporary foster homes. First, the twins moved in- then, the big sis. The foster family was in love with them!
Now, we find out there is one more sibling. An older sister, Aaliyah, who is 6. Aaliyah has Downs Syndrome and is currently placed in a facility with children who are at least five years older than she.
The kids get to visit once a week, and when they do, Bree lights up opon seeing Aaliyah. Bree used to be her caregiver. SO, Erin and Tom say, "hey, we can take big sister, too!" So they start making arrangements to get supports in place to allow that to happen. They ramp up home based income for Erin, who has been staying at home with the kids and intends to keep doing so. Tom continues in his full time job, online school, and parenting after hours.
But there's a problem! Erin and Tom, and Mattie and Clara and Violet and Jackson and Winter and Bree and Heather and Leon live in a little house that is bursting at the seams! They have to get into a bigger rental home with 5 bedrooms in order to take Aaliyah in, too.
They can do this, but need a little help. The family needs assistance to come up with $3,000 for a first and last month deposit on the new home. The quicker they can raise this help, the faster we can make arrangments to get Aaliyah back with her siblings where she belongs.
I can tell you, for someone who has been in the business for 13 years, there is NOTHING like seeing children's faces when they are reunited with their sister or brother. It is priceless. Only in that moment can we feel what it really MEANS to separate siblings from one another when they have also been removed from all else- mom, dad, home, pets, schools.
Please consider making a contribution to this family so they can make a contribution to another family who were strangers to them only a few months ago, but definitely FAMILY now. https://www.facebook.com/couragecommunity/
