Foulksmills, Co. Wexford - Park Development

Foulksmills is a small rural village in South Co. Wexford. Foulksmills Tidy Towns owns the Park in the village. We will be receiving money from the Town and Village renewal scheme and we need to raise match-funding for the project. We were due to hold our Annual Duck Race during the Summer, an event that has been running for almost 40 years. This year we were also planning to hold an outdoor music concert in the Park to raise the money needed for the project. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 we have not been able to have these fundraising events.

The projects consists of: an e-car charge point, new picnic tables and benches, new information boards in the park, a new website for the village to help support the local businesses in the village, play equipment and outdoor sensory musical equipment and landscaping. The old picnic benches and information boards have been in the park since it opened in 1985!

This would be an inclusive space for all ages and all abilities. We feel that this would make our Park, very unique while also preserving the beautiful setting we currently have. It would provide a space for people to have a walk, to sit by the river, to have a picnic and enjoy the musical/sensory and play equipment. We have seen over the last number of months during Covid-19 how many local people visit the park on a weekly basis. It would be great to have a space with some added features for all ages to enjoy. This work will be completed for Summer 2021 and the local community will have a wonderful inclusive space to enjoy. And we will be back Duck Racing on the banks of the River Corach.
