Four Corners Performing Artist Relief
Tax deductible
If you are a performing artist in the Four Corners region and in need of help, please click this link and fill out the application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScWuSMhozqNfAnh1fEYRuL6RE4SmU_9G5lF344bjnYGrDrmfA/viewform?usp=sf_link
These are some troubling times for everyone around the world, and financially many artists are already facing immediate hardship.
The widespread cancellation of group events has had a disproportionate impact on the performing arts community - especially those who rely on gigs to pay their bills. Creatives are people whose very existence relies on what they create and people being able to access their work.
The Four Corners region has so many wonderful local musicians performing every week and as venues, festivals, schools etc have closed, artists are finding that some or even all of their work in the coming weeks or even months has been cancelled or postponed without any kind of payment. This trend and its impact is likely to be felt well beyond the spring season. To make matters worse, a large percentage of artists supplement their incomes with part time jobs, often in the service industry, another industry hit hard by this pandemic. Resources in the arts are stretched too thin across too many, with arts organizations and artists alike experiencing serious financial pressure.
iAM MUSIC is a supplemental job for over 14 musicians in the Durango community, representing more than 5 very active bands in the Four Corners region. To date, our staff have lost over 41 gigs (and counting) with an estimated financial loss (as of now) of more than $8000. So you can imagine, if we were to obtain this same information form all of our Four Corners musicians, we would start to see how large of an impact this is really having on a community that already struggles financially.
How we plan on dispersing the funds.
All money raised will be allocated to qualifying musicians/bands operating within a 100 mile radius of Durango based on overall financial losses from cancelled gigs and events. Funds will be disbursed according to individual level of need as determined by an online application.
Reach out to your musician friends in this time of need, and please share this so we can help our local music community thrive through all of this.
