Foxford Wall Art Project

The Foxford Wall Art Project wants to transform two mundane walls in the town in order to enhance our local community. We have secured permission from Mayo Co Co to erect two professionally painted murals. We need your help in making this a reality. The idea has already gained a lot of contribution and support on social media from the local community at home and abroad. To put it simply we need €5,000 to get this over the line. The sites for these work of Phase 1 are:

Joyces Gable Wall
Hennigans Car Park

One of the leading wall artists in the country, Friz (aka Marion Noone, Co. Sligo), was chosen for this project as the council and building owners were aware of her incredible work in Ballina and across the country. A professional artist of the highest quality with a proven extensive portfolio was an essential choice as these two murals will be displayed for a long time and will represent us as a community. This will contribute to increasing footfall for local businesses, pride of place, tourism and furthering the aesthetic of Foxford. The artist will take elements of our local flora, fauna and folklore in the subject matter of the work so it reflects our local community and tells our story. We are hoping that many similar community projects will happen in the near future. The Foxford Community Clean Up group and other local community groups will be integral in completing the project as they will give their time to help get this initiative over the line. They continually do so much to further the rejuvenation of the town which we all massively appreciate.

We need €5,000 in order to:

Power wash both walls
Apply 2 x base coats on the sites
Hire a scissor lift / cherry picker for 10 days
Artist fees
Materials
Accommodation for the artist

If you know anyone that may be able to help with machinery hire, paint materials, accommodation etc then please contact us [email redacted] as this would drastically reduce the budget needed to make this a plan a reality. We have spent  days putting together applications for the Arts Council but it will interest you to know that towns like Ballina haven't received a cent from them and look at all the incredible work they have done in rejuvenating their town over recent years. If this project is to go ahead we will need help fundraising. If we manage to get to €3,000 we will be able to get the first wall done. Even that would be incredible for the town. To get up to €5,000 would enable us to get the 2 walls fully completed.

In order to be fully transparent about where your money is going we have set up a Foxford Community Bank Fund bank account with AIB Bank in Ballina. All money raised here will be transferred to this bank account and will be used responsibly to further the progression of the town through this project.

The objective of this project was to take two proposed locations that are the most visible to the public in our town and transform mundane spaces into something inspiring and spectacular, that gives everyone in the local community and passers by a sense of pride of place. Through the letters of support from dozens of residents and local businesses we really hope we can make this happen together and see this through to completion. If you can afford it, please donate to this project.
