Memorial for Kathy Estep

Our beloved mother Kathy has passed, as of May 24th. She went into cardiac arrest the evening of May 14th. The paramedics arrived, resuscitated her, and she began breathing on her own. Unfortunately, she was without oxygen for far too long and most of her brain was affected. We lost the woman we all knew that very day. We’ve spent the past 10 days in the hospital with her, hoping we would get some kind of improvement. She wasn’t in pain anymore, but her health continued to decline. We finally made a decision a week after the incident to take the next step, as hard as it was. We were asked if organ donation would be an option. I immediately knew that was something my mom would want. We planned our last day with her. The doctors took her ventilator out in the OR and let us be right by her side. We spent our last moments ever in that OR with our mother. She was finally set free from a body that no longer worked for her and was able to give the gift of life by donating her kidneys. We miss and love her dearly.

We will be having a memorial service for her on June 3rd at 2 pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Any and all donations to help with the memorial services and medical expenses will be greatly appreciated.
