Help Support Veterans at American Legion Post 572

Hello, my name is Shane Sadlowski. I am an 8th grader at St. Michael's School, and a proud resident of Seven Hills, Ohio.

In honor of Veterans Day this week, I am starting a campaign dedicating my 2023-2024 hockey season to support all military veterans in my community through American Legion Post #572 in Parma, Ohio.

The American Legion is an organization that helps and provides services to veterans and their families worldwide. I am supporting Post #572 in Parma, Ohio because I would like to show appreciation to the veterans that have done so much for all of us, while I also get to play my favorite sport of hockey!

Post #572 named me a "Legion Warrior". I am a warrior here in the community trying to make a difference for the veterans and to honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe and defend our great nation.

I will continue to be their "Legion Warrior", but I need your help.

This season my "GOAL" is to raise $3,500. I am dedicated to this mission on-and-off the ice. My PROMISE is that I will continue to always hustle in games & practices, put our team in a position to score goals or get assists, work hard in school earning good grades, and most importantly my faith in God will continue to guide me being a good person and leader.

I have attended hockey camp at West Point. I am also a proud volunteer with soldiersangels.org "Adopt a Deployed Service Member" Program. I send care packages, cards, and letters to active-duty soldiers. I want them to know they are always thought of and cared about.

This week my Ohio Prospects AAA hockey teammates and I will be visiting an Armed Forces Recruiting Station to thank them for their service and show our appreciation. Last week, I returned home from a school trip to Washington, D.C. I was able to see many monuments and memorials. Today, I was an altar server holding the cross during procession in the special Veterans Mass at my school.

When I am not busy on the ice I enjoy acknowledging veterans and thanking them in-person for their service it is important to me. I also enjoy watching military movies. My current favorite movie is Hacksaw Ridge. The movie inspired me that one man can make a difference. One day, I would like to follow in their footsteps and attend a service academy and serve in our U.S. military.

To all the men and women who are currently serving in our military, active duty, honorably discharged, and for those that did not make it back home...Thank you for your service, this for you!
