Help Jeff Pattison Get Well and Regain His Future

Donation protected

My name is Jeff Pattison . For those who know me you are aware that I have lost both my parents within the past year . What you may not know is that I was the primary caregiver for both my parents for the past 5 years . My father was in his 80's and had survived multiple cancers a brain tumor and the loss of his foot . Given that my father was a 270 amputee he was confined to a wheelchair the last 2 years of his life making normal acts and functioning next to impossible without my assistance . Tending to his needs was a 24/7 job considering the possibilities of what could go wrong in my absence . For example -- There were multiple times when he fell out of bed and i could not lift him up or he could not get off the toilet or out of the shower without the assistance of 911 . My father was a strong presence in my life and it was devastating to watch the man i loved and admired so much decline in health so significantly . Ultimately it was his kidneys that failed and my father made a personal decision to decline dialysis and spend his remaining days at home in bed . It took less than 2 weeks for him to succumb to his illness . During this time while my father was losing his consciousness day by day we were given another dose of bad news as my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer . Her chemo treatments were to begin within 2 weeks of my father's passing . My mother held on strong for as long as she could but chemotherapy takes it's toll on a woman in her mid 80's . She had to undergo multiple hydration therapies and blood transfusions just to keep her well enough to continue treatments . I spent every moment i could with my mother tending to her needs and providing comfort and companionship because i did not want her to endure this process alone . When i think about how the pandemic affected this whole situation and the end of their lives it leaves me heartbroken with such sadness as they did not see any of their friends during this difficult period and i am sure the sense of isolation did nothing to lift their spirits at a time when being around others would have meant the world . My father passed in Sept of 2020 and my mother passed in June of 2021 .

And with the passing of the torch from my father to my mother -- I , too , have been diagnosed with some difficult and challenging health issues . Given that i was a full time health giver i am currently unemployed and my disabilities impact my ability to find work as i am unable to stand or walk for extended periods of time and my eyesight has been significantly reduced making it difficult to see leaving me unable to read clearly at all driving has become problematic and i am continuously disoriented . I currently do not have health insurance and my bills are mounting . It is my goal to be able to nurse myself back to health find employment and a new residence and begin a new life for myself as i pray that my concerns can be treated through medication . Thank you ALL !!!!!
