Frances' Art Project: Humanizing Spokane's Homeless
Donation protected

Hi, I'm Frances.
This summer, (2024) I'm working on an art project to draw and interview homeless people in the city of Spokane, Washington.
I am an art student studying at SFCC.
I will take approximately 10 minutes to draw each person and interview them about their situation. My goal is to draw and interview at least 100 people by the beginning of fall quarter.
The ultimate vision of this project is to get these pictures into a gallery.
I plan to use the money I raise to pay my models, (the homeless people) buy art supplies, pay my rent, and eat this summer while I work on this project.
I hope that by bringing the faces and stories of the homeless population in Spokane to the attention of the public, I will create a more nuanced and sympathetic understanding of their plight. I believe that by portraying them in art, I can help humanize the homeless, and make people aware that we're all people.
