Frances Bolton Needs Our Help
Donation protected
If you can believe it, Frances Bolton endured two strokes early in March.
As the Youth Engagement Worker for students of Indigenous ancestry at two of our Burnaby secondary schools, Frances has spent 7 months supporting our students, staff and administrators. She has been selflessly sharing Indigenous teachings, wise words, her deep love of her culture and above all, an incredible strength and resilience with everyone.
And now, she and her family need our help.
Frances was working on a temporary contract in the Burnaby School District. Not much pay. No long-term benefits. And now, unable to work.
In December, she had completed her Bachelor's Degree and hoped to improve her economic situation by using her completed education in a better-paying job. Frances was so excited and so determined to be able to utilize her new skills and better support her two boys.
Tragically, she then suffered two strokes just one week before spring break and before she could benefit from her new degree. As a result of the strokes, she has lost some of her speech and, some of her movement. If anyone can beat the punishing consequences of the strokes, it is Frances. But in the meantime, Frances needs to be able to pay her rent and accumulating bills.
Please help to support Frances in her recovery with a donation today. Any amount will help.
Her story is bigger than her alone. She has tirelessly supported Indigenous families and students, educators. Yet, Frances has a daily connection to many things which could bring down the toughest of us.
A history of family in residential schools, the early death of her mother and sister, generational trauma, single parenthood, and two sons who need her.
Any funds donated here will go directly to assisting Frances and her family during her rehabilitation at the hospital and at GF Strong.
