Francis Burgy Memorial Fund

June 25th, 2020, Francis Burgy passed away of a rare Parkinsonian Syndrome (CBS). This is a horrible progressive neurological disease which causes areas of the brain to degenerate. His wife and children, Catherine, Sophia, and Catrina, watched Francis initially lose his ability to communicate, then swallow, resulting in a feeding tube. They watched his muscles become rigid on one side of his body, which then progressed to both sides. This ultimately left him in a debilitated state, unable to perform daily tasks without assistance. After struggling with these progressions for nearly 10 years, Francis had a sudden cardiac arrest, prompting his passing.

Francis was a man that held himself with dignity and had an unmatched respect for others. He was intelligent yet humble, private yet generous, and most importantly he loved and cared for his family with undivided attention. Francis has left behind his two daughters, Sophia (16) and Catrina (14), who attend Ursuline Academy. Sophia will be graduating high school this year and Catrina will be a sophomore. Education was one of Francis's top priorities for his children, which is why we ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to this fund benefitting their future educational endeavors .
