Frank Seekins' Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Over the years, my dad, Frank Seekins has blessed a lot of people with his wisdom and intellect, and even more with his tender heart. Unfortunately, dad has recently suffered from a stroke and as a result, has experienced some significant physical and cognitive decline. We're hopeful that with hard work and good therapy he'll be able to recover a fair amount but unfortunately he is not set up financially for the housing and assistance that he will need going forward.
While we're hoping to get him access to a number of government resources that may help offset the cost, he will need to be moved into an assisted living facility as soon as he is done with a few weeks of acute therapy. the move-in and ongoing costs of assisted living are significant. We're hopeful that within a few months we will have some sustainable financial resources for him but in the meantime are in need of about $12,000-20,000 to get him moved in and covered for the first few months of assisted living.
Please be praying for cognitive and physical recovery and that we get the necessary funds together for his continued care.
For anyone interested in current details of his health:
Right now dad is able to communicate fairly well and has only fairly minor motor issues. He is however fairly confused, cannot read or write (unfortunately, neither in Hebrew or English), has very limited short term memory, and is not able to correctly identify a number of every-day objects.
He is stable and hopefully will be able to recover well with a fair amount of hard work. Hopefully, as the blood and the swelling in his brain dissipates, some of these symptoms may improve. Most likely though he has a long road ahead for recovery.
For the next week or two, he is at an elevated risk for another stroke, so please be praying that does not happen.
