Franklin High School Track and Field

My name is Matt Harlfinger and l am the Boy's Head Track Coach at Franklin High School. I am launching this fundraiser alongside Head Girls Coach Melissa Ward, for the month of February, in an effort to raise the funds required to attend track meets for our 2022 Outdoor and 2023 Indoor season. We have managed to raise $1500 so far for our 2022 Indoor season with other fundraisers. The entirety of those funds went towards 1 track meet that got cancelled last minute due to weather. We cover our own operating funds which include paying bus drivers anywhere from $100-$300 depending on the trip, entry fee's can cost upwards of $500 for actual indoor meets, hotel cost can be anywhere from $1200-$2000 depending on how many kids we travel.

This season has been a disaster in terms of last minute cancellations. We have had 6 scheduled track meets that were cancelled or post-poned last minute due to Covid, Weather, and a Facility Water Main break. We have tried really hard to get these kids oppirtunities to compete and they keep getting taken away.

My goal for our 2023 Indoor season is too raise enough funds to get into actual indoor facilities for quality competition. Our Indoor season has been contested on outdoor track is 40 degree weather. Host schools that have Indoor Facilities charge alot of money for entry fee's. We are only 2 hours from Clemson and they have a world class facility, we are 5 hours from Virginia Military Institute which has an even better facility, and 5 hours from JDL Fast Track the site of our Indoor State Championships.

I think we have a good enough team to compete for a 3A State Titles, we just need opportunities to compete and hit qualifying standards.
