We are FIRST Robotics Team 4276, the Surf City Vikings, from Marina High School in Huntington Beach, CA.
The FIRST Robotics Competition is an international educational competition that challenges high school students to design, build and program a 100 lb robot on a tight budget and an even tighter timeline. Check out this video for a brief introduction:
This year our team competed at the Ventura County Regional competition in March. Our robot was part of the event-winning alliance, qualifying us to attend the World Championship ("champs") in Houston, TX this April.
Our team wants to attend the Champs, but we have set up goals we must meet before committing financially. We must remain competitive at our next event (the Orange County Regional, March 28-30), and raise funds to pay for registration and travel.
Your donations will help us meet our financial and organizational goals!
How will your donation be spent?
If we are able to attend Champs:
- to pay for the $5750 registration fee
- additional funds will go toward reimbursing student travel expenses, room and board, and
- purchase of supplies we need for competition
In the event that we cannot attend Champs (too few students are able to make the trip, or our robot is not performing at a high enough level), your funds will go toward purchase of robotics supplies:
- motors and motor controllers
- electrical components (wire, connectors, etc.)
- raw building materials
- tools for our growing workshop
