FRC Team 8298 from SW Minnesota Going to Worlds!

This year FRC Team 8298 the Mighty Morphing Banana Slugs won the impact award at the Lake Superior Regional on March 2, 2024. This is a huge honor and we look forward to sharing how we have impacted the STEAM world at the FIRSTChamionship Competition taking place in Houston, April 17-20, 2024.

We've had a 100% graduation rate, with 67% pursuing STEM fields. Facing challenges in a rural community, we've grown through GEARS, COGS, and LOCTITE initiatives, resulting in a 500% increase in program participation and a 450% boost in sponsors. Our team funds, mentors, assists, and starts other FIRST teams, actively promoting diversity and inclusion. To ensure our impact continues, we've developed a 5-year plan and established The Greater Siouxland STEAM Association to expand our efforts further in our region. Looking forward, we aim to expand outreach, make Robotics a CTE course, and advocate for mandatory computer science education.

Receiving the Impact Award for our efforts over the past few years is a huge honor and we are so thankful for the opportunity to go to Worlds this year. Heading to the World Competition in Houston will cost our team thousands of dollars more than we had budgeted. Your support helps us make a lasting difference for the members of our team and all those that we will Impact through our continued outreach efforts!
