Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to view this account. I never thought we would be in this position but here we are. I (Valerie) am seeking assistance to help lessen my mom’s financial burden that has quickly come after her recent cancer diagnosis. Because of the extent of her treatment, mom had no other choice but to stop working. We all know how expensive everyday life can be in today’s climate. If you are able to donate, I appreciate it more than words can describe. I wanted to share a bit about her diagnosis and journey thus far. We have learned a lot through this, and the thing that sticks out the most to me is that we all have to ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF. Doctors are practicing. Some are great healers and on the other hand some will diagnosis you without proper testing. Listen to your body and do not settle for less than you deserve. We pay a lot of money for health care, take full advantage of it.
Mom’s symptoms first started in December of 2022. She was having trouble breathing, wheezing and was not her usual energetic self. She went to her primary doctor who immediately prescribed her steroids and antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection without conducting any testing. As the New Year came, mom was still experiencing the same issues. Once her symptoms began to worsen, mom decided to see a pulmonary specialist and requested a new primary doctor. The new doctors conducted a variety of tests to include an X-Ray, CAT scan of her lungs, and breathing tests to get a better view of this “upper respiratory infection”. In August 2023 her lung capacity was only accepting 40% of air flow and her scan results were in. The scans unfortunately showed a mass in her windpipe and lower lung and a bronchoscopy was ordered for further review. On September 8th 2023 mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. Unfortunately due to the location of the tumor she is not a candidate for surgery leaving radiation and chemo as her only options. She has been a real fighter and has relied on her faith and family to get her through. She is the strongest person I know and still remains humble and kind during it all. My mom has always been the type to do whatever she could for others in need and is always there for anyone at any time to be a shoulder to cry on or loan an ear to listen. As I said above, if you’re able to donate we appreciate it. Your donations will go towards medical and basic living expenses. If you’re not, then your continued support, uplifting words of encouragement and prayers are welcomed.
Much love and appreciation,
