Gazan Family Seeks Support to Evacuate

I miss my house in Gaza so much, if only you could see it” I always said to everyone I met abroad who can’t visit my house in the -nearly- 18 years besieged Gaza.

We moved into that house back in 2006 -the year Gaza was subjected to a full blockade- and we never imagined living somewhere else.

It was so beautiful, with five big rooms, an amazing sea view rooftop, a huge balcony, a wide kitchen and very nice salons. Located in the heart of Gaza, it had a strategic position in the most vibrant part of Gaza. This house hosted many parties, birthdays and family/friends’ gatherings. It witnessed us all graduate from high school and university, my sister’s wedding and many more key points in our lives. It was also home to two angelic cats -Smokey and Bella- who enjoyed playing around in every corner of it.

Each one of us was attached to this house after it was all that remained for us in our one and only hometown. In the first four days of the genocide, both my brother and father had to evacuate to another place like everyone else. They kept moving from one place to another until they settled at a friend’s house in Deir Al-Balah as my dad’s health kept deteriorating.
However, they always wanted to go back to our beloved house.

After enduring four months of the continuous Israeli genocide against the people of Gaza, we tragically lost our cherished home. A place we called our own for nearly two decades. This resilient house weathered through four previous wars, but this time, like many homes in Gaza, it couldn't withstand the devastation. And with that, we lost the only home we had, our beloved physical memories of all kinds and most importantly, our family heritage.

Through this brutal genocide, we also mourned the loss of our beloved cat -Smokey- who was killed in a bombing at a place where he sought refuge. Meanwhile, my father who is 69 years old is suffering from severe health problems that are worsened by poor hygiene, inconsistent amounts and kinds of food and polluted resources such as air and water. My brother who is schizophrenic is also suffering with inconsistent medication and deteriorated health under the status quo of Gaza. The memories and experiences embedded in these walls will forever be etched in our hearts, but the harsh truth remains that the physical haven, our source of comfort and shelter, is irrevocably gone.

Therefore, we have made the decision to initiate a fundraising campaign to collect funds for our family, as we no longer possess the financial resources to rebuild our home independently. Any assistance you can provide will be sincerely appreciated, and we hope to express our gratitude by inviting you to our newly reconstructed home one day, where we can share a meal or enjoy a cup of tea together. In addition to rebuilding our home, we also need help to evacuate both my father and brother to get proper medical treatment.

They are suffering from a dire situation and they need urgent care that is not available in Gaza. We are looking for any possible way to get them out of this harsh condition and into a safe and healthy environment. Please help us restore our home, our hope and our humanity. We are desperate and scared for their lives. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
