Fred E. Schieber, Jr., Founder of F&S Decoys

Dear friends, family, and supporters,

As we mourn the loss of my beloved step-father, Fred E. Schieber, Jr., I find solace in the memories of his remarkable life and the impact he had on all of us. Fred was not only a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend but also a master woodcarver whose talent and passion brought joy to many.

Fred dedicated countless hours to his craft at F & S Decoys, creating intricate and beautiful woodcarvings of decoy ducks, fish, dogs, and an array of other animals. His creations were more than just works of art; they were expressions of his creativity, skill, and deep connection to nature.

In recent years, Fred's ability to work was greatly impacted by his illness and the medical treatments he underwent. Despite his health challenges, he continued to pour his heart and soul into his craft. His strength was evident throughout even his final days.

Unfortunately, much of what Fred and my mom earned was used to cover the costs of his medical treatments, including frequent trips to Indianapolis for specialized care. As a result, the financial strain on our family has been significant, and we now face the daunting task of covering his final arrangements while also supporting his widow, Becky.

In the wake of Fred's passing, I am launching this GoFundMe campaign to establish the Fred E. Schieber, Jr. Memorial Fund. This fund will serve as a lasting tribute to his memory and the legacy of his artistry and craftsmanship.

The funds raised through this campaign will be used to honor Fred's memory in two meaningful ways. Firstly, they will contribute to his final arrangements, ensuring that he receives the dignified farewell he deserves. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be directed toward supporting my mother, his widow, as she navigates this difficult time and adjusts to life without her beloved partner.

Fred's woodcarvings brought beauty and joy into the world, and it is my hope that this memorial fund will continue to honor his legacy and bring comfort to those who knew and loved him. Your generosity will help preserve his memory and support his family during this challenging time.

Many of you are aware that we also lost my brother, unexpectedly just a few months ago in October. The loss of both Fred and Breton is a profound sorrow we are struggling to fathom.
