Brain Freeze for Brain Cancer
Donation protected
In late July 2021, Kimberly King was diagnosed with brain cancer. She went from working that morning on her jobsite to the hospital to have them find a oligodendroglioma (tumor, cancerous) about the size of a potato in her head. She had emergency surgery the next day after being admitted to the hospital, followed by fertility treatment, photon radiation, temozolomide chemo to then be cleared for a few years of no treatment in January of 2023.
May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month and to raise awareness, Kim’s care team puts on the “Brain Freeze for Brain Cancer” polar plunge style event to raise, not only awareness, but also funds for brain tumor research. This year she is choosing the Fred Hutch Brain Tumor Research Fund. All proceeds will be donated to them in their mission to find ways to treat and cure brain cancers of all kinds.
