Help Freddie To Walk

Hello Everyone,

My names Freddie & I’m 3 years old, I know I only look like a baby, but that’s because I was born at 24 weeks old and weighed 547g. So I’m pretty big now =]

I was in hospital from birth until I was 6 months old, when I was in the hospital I caught a really bad infection, which resulted in me getting PVL

(Periventricular Leukomalacia) which is damage of the white matter on my brain around 50% roughly. I was strong enough to survive the infection, most little ones don’t, it was nasty.

I was then told I had developed quadriplegic cerebral palsy, my arms and legs would never work and probably end up in a wheel chair and need full time care for the rest of my life!

As time has gone on, my left side has been effected the worst and I sometimes forget I even have a left arm or leg.

Since then I’ve been working hard, with the help of my physios, occupational therapists, speech and language, my dietician and my paediatric consultant, I’ve started gaining weight, I’m blabbing more and more and I’ve learned how to sit up on my own.

HOWEVER I’m determined to use all 4 limbs and prove them wrong ! My biggest goal is to walk on my own.

Recently I started intense therapy at Cerebal Palsy Scotland in Glasgow, it’s a 8 week block, two 1 hour sessions a week and I’ve started learning new things and I’m trying my best to pick it up quickly.

It’s definitely helping.

However this is only the beginning and I know I will need many more blocks & equipment to help me reach my ultimate goal.

Now is the most important time of my development and I want to do everything I can to achieve the best results, so………. I need your help =]

To give you a bit of perspective-

These costs are on going, I’m hoping to get 2/3 intense therapy blocks per year and I will work at it from home in between.

The more I raise, the more things I can get to help me achieve my goal.
