Even though California has been his home for the past 50 plus years, it is time for our beloved father, uncle and grandpa to go home to rest on his ancestral land in Kenya, East Africa. We are sad to announce the passing of Frederick Okumu on the evening of September 27 2022 from an Intercranial Brain Hemorrhage.

Anyone who knew Fred, knew they had made a friend for life. His exuberant and larger than life personality lit up every room he walked into. We will miss the echoes of his laughter that were as large as his physical presence. We pray with your help we will be able to meet our goal to cover the cost of laying him to rest in a culturally befitting manner.

At this time we come to you as friends and relatives, to ask for any donation amount to Robert Okumu my brother to help facilitate sending him my Father home to Africa to be buried with other foregone elders on his ancestral homestead of Dala Kwe (Home of Peace, nothing missing, nothing broken).

With deep gratitude we want to thank you in advance for any amount you’ve contributed to make Frederick Okumu’s journey home possible to be laid to rest next to his wife the late Elizabeth Okumu.

Robert will be managing the funds to pay for all funeral expenses.
