Priory Concerts, York

Priory Concerts set out in 2014 to be a series of 6 free weekly organ concerts held on Saturday lunchtimes with the aim to brighten up the weekends in January and February each year, accessible to anyone.

St Columba's URC, Priory Street, York is home to a 1907 Lewis Organ which was fully restored in 2008. Since then a number of additional stops have been added along with playing aids, such as additional memory levels and a sequencer. Through these concerts, the organ, affectionally known as "Mildred", has become a firm favourite with soloists and organ concertgoers alike.

These concerts are held in St Columba's Church, Priory Street, York and are free to enter with a voluntary retiring donation which provides the fees to pay our performers. These concerts have been wonderfully successful over the years, including during the pandemic, and we have had a large range of first-rate organists from across the country bringing organ music of many styles to an enthusiastic audience.

This year, we are celebrating its 10th year and we are pleased to continue the concerts both in situ as well as online. We would be very grateful for any contributions. They will go entirely to fund this year's series and other free public concerts at St Columba's, Priory Street, York.
