Here is my statement to the Wines Community regarding Gracie and the misinformation that is being spread:

UPDATE (as of 5/16/2024): It has been 17 days since we have seen Gracie. Gracie has not returned to school and we miss her so much. I wake up every day hoping that today will be the day we finally get her back. I can't imagine how confused and distressed she is. At this time, we have filed a lawsuit in order to keep fighting to get Gracie back, see below.

My name is Lexi Fata and I am a kindergarten teacher in Ann Arbor. About two years ago, I became the owner of Gracie, a fun loving Bernedoodle. I have been bringing Gracie to school with me since January 2023. Over a week ago (4/29/2024), my principal took Gracie from me at our school and I have not seen her since. While I was in the middle of teaching my kindergarteners, my principal demanded that I attend a meeting that I was unaware of. I was forced to leave my classroom to attend this meeting, where I was informed that my principal has now taken Gracie. I am now fighting back to bring Gracie home.

We have located Gracie but are unable to bring her home at this time. She does not have her food - which prevents her from developing pancreatitis, a life threatening condition - her medicine, her toys, her bed, or ANY of the love from myself, my boyfriend or our families.

We are absolutely, 100% heartbroken.

I am now working with an attorney to bring Gracie home, where we know she is safe, taken care of and loved. Please help me on my fight. We need you.

All donations will be used toward our legal fees in bringing Gracie home.
