Free Menstrual Product Dispensers
Donation protected
This school year, Students Invested in Health Association (SIHA) is raising money to fund our Menstrual Hygiene Initiative. This initiative will be providing free menstrual hygiene products to people who have a need for them on campus.
There are many reasons why people need free menstrual hygiene products. These reasons could be that they forgot to bring their products and their period started or just the plain fact that they cannot afford to buy these products at the moment. “Menstrual poverty” is a real issue among people who menstruate. They often experience feelings of shame and distress when they are faced with the dilemma of having no menstrual hygiene product on hand during their menstruation.
To combat this social issue, our group is aiming to provide a functional and sustainable dispenser on campus that will be attached to the campus washrooms. The biggest hurdle right now for our initiative is gaining sufficient funds to be able to afford the dispenser. We have the support of our Students’ Union with regards to providing us with the menstrual hygiene products. All we need now is the dispenser.
