Freedom Bakery Yemen - Ramadan
Donation protected
Salam All,
I hope all is well and may Allah keep you all and your families safe during these times.
As some of you may know, I went to Yemen back in September of 2019 and Alhamdulilah many of you contributed in helping me deliver food baskets to about 125 needy families.
When I came back from my trip, I worked with Muslims Giving Back to start a program called Freedom Bakery in Albaydah, Yemen. We worked with contacts that I knew from the region to purchase a Tuk Tuk and made a deal with a local bakery to supply us with bread to feed 100 families on a daily basis for about $85 per day. My contact would buy the bread and deliver it to 100 families living in remote villages in the area.
The program logistics were set up in October and started operations in November 2019. The program was extremely successful as it helped to alleviate the financial pains of many families and helped to feed hundreds of people on a daily basis. We also provided our contact with a phone and directed him to take pictures of him delivering the food on a daily/weekly basis.
Although the program was very successful, Muslims Giving Back has done some restructuring within their organization and are looking to focus all of their work on domestic charitable work and end all of their international projects which forced us to put a pause on the program back in February of this year.
With that said, I am sharing this here in an attempt to accomplish 2 things:
1: Raise enough money to restart the program for the month of Ramadan. That would be about $2,500 to deliver bread to 100 families on a daily basis for the entire month of Ramadan.
The goal is set to $5,000 because Muslims Giving Back has pledged to match up to $5,000 of donations made through this campaign. This means if we accomplish our goal, we will have enough funds to continue the program for the next 4 months.
2: Ask for your help in finding a an organization dedicated to serving the Yemeni cause to take over this project and help maintain the service that we have been providing to this neglected part of Yemen. If you or anyone that you know works for a charitable organization that would be interested in taking over the project, please reach out to me and I will provide all the photos, documents and financial records that I have.
Thank you, Jazakum Allah Khair and may Allah bless you all.
Note: Your donations are 100% Zakat Eligible.
Ramadan Kareem! : )
