Hannah is a self-determined young woman with autism. Before being medically kidnapped and sedated by Munson Medical Center, Hannah had a good life. She lived in her own apartment with good people who support her and care about her.
She is not a child, she is an adult with autism. She is a human being who loves, feels, and has a lust for life. She goes to concerts, theme parks, baseball games, movies, dates, listens to music, loves Billie Jo Armstrong and Rik Mayall....she is a PERSON with a life. She is so much more, than her diagnosis.
She is being held by Munson Medical Center despite being medically cleared - for 32 days now. She has not been allowed outside or off the floor. They have banned all friends and family. They have restricted her access to her attorney and denied her access to her advocate.
The hospital and temporary guardian are demading that she be institutionalized in an AFC home.
No sun. No friends. No swing. No therapy dog. No therapy. No activities. No community. Very limited communication, they have "RETURN TO SENDER" written accross her mail and have it sent back.
There are family and friends lined up ready to take her home and provide what she needs. Instead, a random stranger, who has 20+ other "wards" was assigned to decide where and with whom she can live. This person does not know Hannah, will not speak to the family, and has fired all of her professional care providers.
The attorneys and advocate at the RespectAbility Law Center http://respectabilitylawcenter.com are working around the clock to assert Hannah's Civil Rights and have her return to her home, her friends, her community, and her family.
The cost of her legal defense is quickly adding up. Transcripts, filing fees, experts, and related costs are absolutely essential to preventing the institutionalization of this vulnerable, yet self-determined young woman.
By donating to this fund, you are assisting HANNAH in paying her own legal fees. Your donation to the legal fund will be dispersed directly to her attorney. Funds dispersed will be identified as being "Paid for by Friends of #freehannahg". Thank you!
