HELP US KEEP PAX IN THE PARK FREE FOR ALL!
#FREEPAXPARK

Come one, come all… We’re going in again with the “best fringe stage in Sheffield”, Pax in the Park. And of course it’s FREE — and FREE for all.

This year we want you — our thriving community of Paxers & friends — to help us make it happen, bigger and better than ever. We’re all in need of a good dance in the park, so let’s make this happen for the people of Sheffield, and keep this event free to access for all.

—-------------

After the absolute smasher that was Pax in the Park last year, this July we’re doing it all over again in the Heeley People’s Park. And you’re all invited.

Together, we enjoyed a stunning line up of world-class artists. We made the main stage our catwalk, and vogued to the music. We poured pints of sweet nectar from Sheffield’s best breweries, accompanied by our favourite street food vendors for 3 full days of pure park delight.

Now we’re getting busy so we can do it all over again… and we’re asking for help from anyone who’d like to donate to the cause.

What’s the problem then?

Last year Pax in the Park was funded by reserves from the Dorothy Pax, and the remnants of our successful application to the Arts Council England’s Culture Recovery Fund.

Quite simply, all of our remaining funds were spent on last year’s event.

As all of you will know, it’s been an extremely tough time for all of Sheffield’s independent businesses, and it’s been tough for the DPx. This is why we’re reaching out for help to fund this event.

We’ve managed to survive the last few tricky years— and now we’re fighting to keep our doors open under the cost of living crisis like you and the rest of the nation. We’re extremely proud to still be here, and we’re proud of our kind community who are very much at the centre of all we do.

Why We Need YOU

The fact remains that we don’t have anywhere near the £85k it costs to host this event.

We’re not going to lie to you and say that this event won’t go ahead without a successful crowdfund, but we believe in being honest and have no reservation about letting you know that funds are extremely tight.

We always pay and play fairly with our artists, crew, techs and suppliers.

We would never turn our community-spirited, free event into a closed-off, ticketed commercial venture and create an inaccessible space. It’s just not how we roll, and we believe that especially right now, free community events are critical to all of our wellbeing.

We love hosting the good people of Sheffield and beyond. It’s you that make the DPx such a uniquely joyful melting pot of vibe, open and accessible to all.

And nowhere was that more obvious than at Pax in the Park last year.

Free entry music events keep communities together

With the help of community-minded people in a position to donate a few pounds — we can keep this special event free at the point of access, and keep the spirit of this event exactly as it should be.

Reaching this target will help us avoid running this event at a loss, which helps keep the Dorothy Pax and this annual event alive.

Supporting this fundraiser directly supports us to keep paying everyone fairly. To book incredible bands, and bring the people of Sheffield together once more for the ‘best fringe event in the city’.

Why not charge for tickets?

Simply, we believe this event should be free to access.

Charging for tickets would change the atmosphere of the event — and most certainly prevent those who can’t afford to attend musical events from joining us for a much-needed weekend of revelry.

What does my donation get me?

Our eternal love and gratitude. The sweet satisfaction that comes with becoming a patron of a world-class community event, and a small discreet gift to thank you for your huge support.

What will you do with the crowdfunding money?

Every penny of your kind donations will go towards the cost of Pax in the Park 2023, covering the cost of our incredible sound system. Any profits from Pax in the Park will remain in trust, and will be used to help with the cost of next year’s party.

Why the £10k fundraising target?

Wow, our target of £10k seems like a lot, right? Well, the cost of Pax in the Park this year will be in excess of £85k. Our production value is high, and we have an amazing, high-quality PA sound system that you’ll have enjoyed if you were with us last year.

By helping us reach our target of £10k, you will have helped to hire the best set of speakers in the city for your friends and local residents to enjoy.

Our aim is to host you all in the park year after year. Get the dates in your diary this year and every year (21st-23rd July). This is just the start of a beautiful tradition for the city of Sheffield! A fantastic, free, family event for the good of all, made possible by you.

If you are in a financial position to be able to support us — just know how truly grateful we are to you for helping us make this event happen.
