What happens when 21 year old Scott Davis breaks up with his high school sweetheart, slips into suicidal depression, and then unwittingly doses himself with upwards of 500 hits of LSD? You get "LSDerailed" (Scotty's tell-all memoir available for purchase on Amazon, as well as at purposeinthepain.net). But how do I possibly explain the complexities behind #FreeScottDavis in such a short space for those who do not know my husband or have not read his book?
If you were to google my husband's arrest, you would encounter a one sided narrative that paints a very distorted picture of the horrific incident which transpired on April 18, 2012. As Albert Einstein once said, "The evidence always looks good until it's cross examined." As a woman devoted to truth and a wife desperate to get my loving husband home, I am not blindly biased—I am fact based biased, and I can no longer sit on my hands while the facts of my husband's situation remain buried by various misconceptions, injustices, and outright lies. I am not some bamboozled woman who encountered my husband while desperately scraping the prison system for a mate. I am a woman who has been blessed with the most admirable and godly man I have ever met, and if he weren't, there is NO WAY I would be married to an incarcerated man! That being said, here is a summary of the facts.
On April 18, 2012, after 8 months of persistent and mind bending delusions, my husband engaged in a night of paranoia driven violence for which he was later convicted of two first degree assault charges, including assault on a law enforcement officer. Keeping the legal jargon to a minimum for the sake of space, Scotty's trial was a sham. Facts surrounding the incident were fabricated, left out, and outright lied about. Aside from those pertinent details, key mental health records were never recovered and produced, leaving Scotty to believe a "Diminished Capacity" defense was going to be presented, when in fact no defense was presented. The end result was the jury being led to think their verdict would give Scotty a 15 year sentence (even after no defense was presented), and then the judge taking it upon himself to override the jury and dole out a sentence of 25 years.
Nearly 11 years into his incarceration, Scotty is a model of reformation and rehabilitation. He has taken this time to not only better himself, but also to help the men he lives with. From studying and writing, to facilitating classes and working various jobs, Scotty has an exemplary record. Not only is my husband a law abiding citizen, he is a contributor to society, even from within the confines of prison. It's not just men in prison he helps, but NUMEROUS people out here in the free world, as well. Having been locked up at 21, Scotty has been transformed from a lost boy with addiction and mental health issues into a man who was destined to impact the world.
This go fund me account has been set up to fund the efforts to bring awareness to Scotty’s situation. From purchasing copies of his book, to freely handing them out, to purchasing T-Shirts and rubber bracelets with the slogan #FreeScottDavis on them, to launching social media ad campaigns, to hopefully even one day being able to get a billboard campaign going. Every donation is greatly appreciated (no matter how big or small) and will not go to waste! Join Scotty's friends and family, and help to bring awareness to his situation. #FreeScottDavis spells justice, and if you would but take a little time to investigate this claim, I have no doubt you will agree. Scotty has been gone long enough. It's time for him to experience being a husband and a father. It's time for him to give back to the world around him. It's time for him to come home. LIKE YESTERDAY!!!
Thank you so much for your time and support, and may God bless you richly in your giving!
