My husband, Nickolas Wildstar, has been a victim of injustice at the hands of officers and our court system. Nickolas recorded his traffic court proceedings then uploaded his videos onto YouTube.
Surprisingly his videos went viral and caught the attention of the courts. Unbeknownst to him they charged him with contempt of court for exercising his lawful and constitutional right to record any public official (judge) in a public place (court).
They charged him with 6 charges of contempt after he went to his 3rd hearing to address the first set of charges. Half of the charges are duplicate charges with each charge having a maximum sentence of 1 year.
They locked him up for 10 days instead of the usual "cite and release" for a victimless and nonviolent crime. One of the days they kept him in there was during Christmas missing his sons first Christmas with his father.
The Orange County District Attorney's office pushed this minor offence to a jury trial during a pandemic putting innocent people's innocent lives at risk and on February 20th he was found guilty for all 6 charges potentially facing a maximum sentence of 6 years in jail!
This devastating blow does not only affect Nickolas but affects his family as well!
We're currently preparing for an appeal to have his case heard at the appellate court which can be a long and expensive process.
Attorney fees aren't cheap and our family could use whatever support that it can get so we're asking anyone willing to help to assist us in getting his voice heard and having his case reopened for a shot at true redemption.
We love and thank all those who donate and support us through this extremely difficult ordeal! This means the world to each of us Wildstars! Let's fight to keep our family together and for liberty!
