Freezie Fresh Rolled Ice Cream Fundraiser

Help Freezie Fresh scale up to sell their scrumptious ice cream everywhere!

Summertime without ice cream is like winter without snow - don’t even try it, sis. Especially here in Santa Fe where the temperatures can get downright stifling and the only cure is Freezie Fresh’s seasonal sweets to keep us so so cool.

For four years, owner Xzavian Cookbey has been filling our bellies with his Southwestern take on Thai rolled ice cream, bringing smiles to anyone with a mouth. And even during Covid, Xzavian’s been slingin’ Freezie rolls at his new location 2860 Cerrillos Rd, making everyone feel like there’s a little bit of normalcy during these abnormal times.

So, now it’s time for us to show up for him. Join us in supporting Freezie Fresh as it moves into the next phase of business - wholesale distribution AKA world domination.

Freezie Fresh’s normal 7-8 month mobile run has been cut in half by Covid and with the delay of the much-anticipated CHOMP food hall, where Freezie Fresh is slated to have a booth, it’s time to pivot pivot pivot!

And that’s where you come in. And your money. And your heart. But really your money.

First of all, if you’ve never had Freezie Fresh, oh my lawd, you are in for a treat. You’ve never had ice cream so creamy, so flavorful, so...perfect. And then once you’ve had it, you start calculating the years you wasted eating inferior ice creams. Flavors like honey lavender and salted caramel with red chili are dripping with Southwestern influence. Or maybe you’re a sassy ‘lil guy who’s thirsty for Freezie’s tangy and flawless lemon curd (inspired by Xzavian’s favorite hometown Houston donut shop).

Can you believe we have ice cream this outstanding in Sante Fe anytime we want it?! Isn’t that selfish?! We have all these delectable, exciting, dream-inducing flavors and the only right thing to do, as the good people we are, is to share. And to do that, Xzavian needs an industrial ice cream machine.

What the eff is that?

It’s a massive scale ice cream maker that will take Freezie Fresh ice cream and turn it into delicious gallons of silky sweet treats for America and beyond. You could probably also swim in it, but I wouldn’t recommend it. This machine is the key to what Freezie Fresh needs to scale up and move up!

Now, these machines are not cheap. As a matter of fact, they’re expensive. $50,000 expensive.

WHAT!? I COULD BUY A HOUSE FOR THAT!

No, you can’t. Unless you set a time machine to 1963. But why would you do that? There’s no Freezie Fresh.

Don’t fret, cause we CAN make this happen! And by “we” I don’t just mean the amazing people of Santa Fe who are ready to shell out some extra cash to see a local business they adore thrive. I also mean ”we” the Internet! Look at all the astonishing things we already did:

- Made the Ikea monkey famous

- Showed us that some of our friends from high school didn’t turn out so cool

- Connected us to every episode of The Office

We can do amazing things, so let’s put Freezie Fresh Total Domination on that list! Think of it this way: If 10,000 people donated $5, we did it! Yay! Or if 5,000 people donated $10, also, goal owned! Or if Shirley MacLaine saw this and donated $50,000, we’d be funded! Someone call Gene Hackman! I bet he’s good for $10K! He still lives in Santa Fe, right? We're setting the initial goal at $15K but we know we can blow past that into full funding.

You love ice cream and more importantly, you love phenomenal ice cream and you know everyone deserves that. When you see a kid in a bathing suit eating a frozen, artificially dyed Ninja Turtle head on a popsicle stick, its bubble gum eyes half disintegrated, your heart cries. That’s no way for a human being to spend their summer!!

And won’t it feel good to give $5, $10 or even $100 dollars to support a Black-owned business bringing next-level joy to everyone in its path? Spoiler alert - it WILL feel good! Did you know only 1.4% of businesses in New Mexico are Black-owned? That’s 8% less than the US as a whole so it is THRUPLY important that we all pitch in to help Freezie Fresh thrive! Imagine helping an amazing Santa Fe business make its way to a freezer in New York or South Carolina or Oregon and you know you helped it get there? It gives me chills (at the amazing thought of it and I am also eating Freezie Fresh made at -35℃)!

Let me tell you about the astonishing person behind Freezie Fresh - Xzavian Cookbey! Originally from Houston, he came to Santa Fe for college and was caught in the Land of Enchantment, as many of us are after getting a taste of the mouth-watering food, the majestic scenery, the smart as all get out artists and community, and that magical energy we just can’t describe. After saving up from his cashier job, he bought his first integral piece of equipment for his Thai rolled ice cream biz  - the anti-griddle - which freezes its surface so the creamy mixture can be morphed into a semi-solid and a delicious Freezie Fresh rosette can be born!

The rolling technique is NOT EASY, but you think that would stop Xzavian!? Hell. No. He not only mastered the technique, but he is also self-taught.  That’s the kind of hard work and dedication that got Xzavian to where he is now, and with our help, we can help him burst through to the next level.

Bringing something new to the market takes a lot of confidence. When Freezie Fresh was still in its early days, a customer approached with a million questions. She hesitantly ordered an ice cream, which back in the day was a 12-ounce service for only five dollars, a whopping amount of yum for practically nothing. She was PISSED about the price and so he gave it to her for free. She took one bite and was hooked, so she handed Xzavian twelve dollars and is a regular to this day.

That’s the secret that everyone in Sante Fe knows and why we’re so excited to help Xzavian share this magical creamy treat with the rest of the country!! And we hope you’re excited, too! Let’s do this!
