French Coffee & Chocolate Shop in Mendham

 
Bonjour!  My name is laurent Carratie,  I am a pastry chef who longs to share my expertise as a baker and  pastry chocolatier with my community.  This could serve to satisfy my passion and help my desperate financial situation.  Before covid 19, I worked as a Executive pastry chef at the Harvard club in New York City, however since March 16th  2020,  I have been unemployed.   As a single father with two teenage children,  I am struggling to survive financially yet yearn to fill my life with a meaningful goal.   Prior to moving to America I owned and operated a thriving artisanal bakery, chocolate bar and catering business in southern France.  I am a fifth generation pastry chef in my family and I have won several pastry and chocolate contests in Paris France.  I am also part of the prestigious  ACADEMIE CULINAIRE DE FRANCE (french culinary academy).  I was a participant on TV's Food Network Spring Baking Championship.  My experience and training provide me with the very best assets to bring a similar business to my new country America and to all of you!

Presently I live in Mendham New Jersey which is a charming town that offers the perfect opportunity to open a Coffee & Pastry shop and give back to my local community. 

My main obstacle is a lack of funding to initiate this endeavor.  With the need to buy baking oven and equipment.  I want to create a shop that would welcome residents to gather for coffee, baking goods ,french specialties including: pastries, snacks, lunch and many other sweet and savory treats. I would love to continue and improve upon outdoor gathering areas for friendly conversation just like in my hometown village in the South of France.
