French Island Eco Inn

The French Island Eco Inn (formerly Tortoisehead Lodge) has burnt down. The owners are safe, but unfortunately, their much-loved dog isn't. There is nothing left of the main building (well the chimney did survive).

I was introduced to this wonderful place through work and had such good times that I holidayed there too. Over almost 20 years, at least a thousand students have used this as a base for their environmental studies. Goodness knows how many people have experienced the hosts' hospitality, good food, great nature experiences and the odd murder mystery.

All funds will go to getting through the initial crisis (clothes will be useful), and who knows, maybe we can help rebuild the buildings so the fun and learning can continue.
