An updated study of PBFDV-infected breeding colonies of budgerigars is urgently needed to shed light on PBFDV epidemiology within and between flocks as our original study only has the basics covered. Such a study will give invaluable research results for bettering the management of PBFDV in parrot breeding collections as well as in the management of wild populations (reintroductions). The use of budgerigars in this matter is relatively cheap compared to larger psittacines.
