French My Tacos! Support our Guatemalan Adventure

Hello beautiful people <3
We are Christopher and Mehdi, new owners of "French My Tacos" located in San Marcos Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, a restaurant and an airbnb.
San Marcos is a special place - surrounded by volcanoes and a central lake, people come from all over the world for the tranquility, strong energy, and to connect with the local Mayan culture and people.

The idea of French My Tacos was formed on October 25 when there was a night of Indian Tacos vs French Tacos - Mehdi was cooking French Tacos for the first time. We were sitting on our friend Soorya's balcony tasting the tacos and fell in love with them. On our way walking home that night, Mehdi said "should we go into business together" where Christopher said "OK".

We then officially opened on 10 November - 2 weeks and 2 days later! The flow of everything coming together was extraordinary - Mehdi new a local Guatemalan Rudy renovating a restaurant, we tested the products, found great local suppliers, started communicating with the local businesses and people, and it came into fruition!

On our VIP soft opening night on 7 November, we sold 31 tacos!!

The French Tacos.... Wrap like bread with a protein or two, a delicious, secret, extra cheesy sauce, 2 or so sauces of your choice, and french fries... Hot, stringy, and a huge meal.

The reviews from our first night were astounding - see the vids! Even "better than sex". Many of the people who came to our soft opening came to our opening day as they couldn't help themselves.

The reasons we opened this restaurant are for a number of reasons:
-San Marcos has no kind of takeaway, fast food, big kind of meals.
-San Marcos is mostly vegetarian and vegan so having meat and CHEESE options have been something missing in this town
-We wanted a community space for people to congregate... For people to feel like home with good music, good vibes, get a big hug when they come in, and to be a part of it all
-We love people! People around the community know us for our charisma, friendliness, and approachability and we compliment each other very well.

We wanted to create an airbnb that felt like home and then come down to the restaurant to eat and chat!

The people behind French My Tacos:
Mehdi (French) studied 4 years in Chefs school and has been a chef for 10 years. Mehdi came back to San Marcos after living here for 6 months about 5 years ago and loved the place. It called him back! Now he is running Budokon classes (warrior animalistic type of martial art) and workout groups.
Christopher (Australian) studied 3 years at the International College of Hotel Management, gaining a Bachelor of Business in Hospitality Management and has worked all over Australia and the world in many different hotels, restaurants, cafes, and food and beverage outlets from food and beverage attendant, operating a resort, supervising a restaurant, and helping assist a frozen yoghurt store.

How we will use these funds
-To pay off all the kitchen items and supplies we have purchased so far
-To help us cover all constructions costs (outside awning for outside seating)
-To buy equipment for the Airbnb (linens, artwork)
-To eventually open up a second store in San Pedro and third in Panajachel (both on the lake)
-To buy some furniture for the restaurant (cosy couch, storage shelving)

We are so incredibly excited to share this and would love your support in our vision for this place!
Perhaps one day you can come to Guatemala, stay in our Airbnb and feast on our delicious Tacos!

Big love to you all <3
