Friend in Need: Help Cover Marvin's Medical-Dental Expenses

I’m Luis Ramos, and I’m reaching out today to raise funds for a dear friend’s dental and medical expenses. I first met Marvin McCurry at Monterey High School (1999-2001), where he was not only a standout Varsity football kicker but also a key player on the Varsity soccer team. For those who remember him, Marvin had an incredible leg—I've honestly never seen anyone kick a ball with as much power and precision as he could. It was truly remarkable!

After high school, Marvin went on to play college football on an athletic scholarship, while I joined the Air Force, and we lost touch for several years. Then, a couple of years ago, I came across his Facebook profile. Unfortunately, it was not the same Marvin I remembered.

In 2006, while living in San Antonio, Marvin was struck by a drunk driver, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. He’s since undergone extensive medical treatments. Marvin was diagnosed with Autonomic Dysfunction, a condition that severely affects his central nervous system. This has led to multiple complications including 2 cardiac arrests with pacemaker implants, 5 brain surgeries, respiratory problems, nerve damage, and seizures to name a few. His Facebook profile was updated to reflect the toll these challenges were taking on him.

Although I didn’t immediately reach out, I continued to follow his updates, and eventually, I sent him a friend request. We reconnected, and through our conversations, I learned about the extent of his medical struggles. Not only has his body been severely impacted, but his dental health has also suffered greatly due to falls, trauma, and complications from nuclear medicine treatments.

As a result, Marvin is now facing overwhelming medical and dental bills, including an estimate of over $44,000 for his dental treatments alone.

I’m hoping to raise funds to help cover these expenses and give Marvin the support he so desperately needs. He’s an incredible person who deserves better than what life has handed him. If you’re able to contribute in any way, it would mean the world to Marvin.
