Hello, My name is Kimberley Brown. Most of you know me as Kim Roberts from school. Oakland class of “85”. I have been working since my early teens. Challenging myself and working hard has always been therapy for me to keep my mind off all of pain and stress life has brought my way. In September of 2016 I got a Job promotion that would require traveling by airplane frequently. Because I only have one Kidney, my urologist insisted that I get a Flu shot. He stated that if I were to get the Swine Flu that it could be deadly. On October 10, 2016 I went to my primary care doctor and got the Flu Shot. It changed my life for the worst. Within hours of the shot, the injection site swelled up the size of a baseball and was blood red. I started feeling very sick and terrible pain shooting down my left leg. The pain was so intense that I passed out. I went to my doctor and I tested positive for the Flu Type B and my EKG was off. My doctor sent me via Ambulance to the ER. Since that day to now I suffer from a disease called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) This disease is known as the suicide disease. There is no known cure and is Ranked the most painful disease known to man. This disease affects the Central Nervous System causing constant pain signals from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body. I have Type 1 with severe skin lesions/burns that started on my left side of my body and has spread to full body. I constantly feel like I am on fire. I can no longer tolerate heat at all. I am pretty much a prisoner of my own home. Some days the pain is so bad that I cannot get out of the bed. I will never be able to work outside of my home or do simple things that I used to. For the last almost 3 years, I have been a medical Guinea pig. Because of this disease, I had to resign from my job and right now I do not have medical insurance and my doctor wants me to go to a Ketamine clinic to get 10 day infusions done and wants me to go to the Mayo Clinic to seek treatment. As you all know Medical treatments and prescriptions are very expensive. I pay almost $600.00 a month for my medicine NOW, and it is a struggle. The only way that I can live a halfway normal life is to get this pain and disease under Control. I have always been an Independent woman. Besides the agony of the pain, the idea of asking for help is the worst part of this Disease. I appreciate all of your Love, Prayers and Support.
