Friends join to help Zipolite Rebuild

Hurricane Agatha hit the coast of Oaxaca a week ago causing imense damage. For some of us rebuilding will be manageable cleanup and repairs. Many, however, have lost homes or are left with houses that are barely liveable. Corrugated roofing is scattered everywhere. Tarps and plastic cover openings where roofs and walls used to be. The hardworking, resourceful people who typically own these less durable structures are often without the financial resources to make unexpected repairs.
Friends of Casa Sol, Maquil, and The Red Tree House have been asking if they can help Zipolite rebuild. We have referred many to Orion Kraus' GoFundMe campaign to provede materials for repairs and have offered several thousand dollars in supplies directly to Orion for immediate use.
Many of the people that make Zipolite a beautiful, welcoming destination live up in the small mountain communities. These are the smiling faces that serve, manage, clean, cook and build. They live with their young families in modest houses they have been building with their own hands. They need our help and we are providing the much needed lamina, the corrigated metal roofing.
In the days following Agatha we have seen the immense resiliency of the people. Neighbors are working to provide food and necessities. We greatly appreciate those who have asked how they can contribute. You can help us provide the materials that will allow people to rebuild houses and lives.
All funds will be used to purchase building supplies that will be given directly to those effected by the hurricane. They are mostly from rural areas and include our current and former employees, craftsmen, small time suppliers, and people who serve the community. Because gofundme does not work directly in Mexico it is necessary to direct funds to the account of Craig Hudson in the US who will transfer the money to Mexico.
