Help Choony Lee Fight Cancer
We are reactivating this GoFundMe campaign to raise additional funds for Choony Lee and the Lee-Kawanishi family.
Choony was diagnosed with stage-IV cancer in 2017 and has had two major surgeries and numerous rounds of chemotherapy to keep the cancer at bay. Due to COVID-19, Choony had to stop her treatment for six months. Now there is a new area of cancer growth and Choony and her family need your help.
Please join those who love this amazing woman to help her continue to be the vibrant human she is!
A personal message from Choony:
We are all collectively suffering from the horrible toll that COVID-19 virus has taken and how it has changed our lives. For me, it meant that I had to take a six-month reprieve from chemotherapy. Unfortunately, a new pain started that no one could explain. An MRI found that cancer cells had grown near my pelvic bone and rectum.
Under the guidance of my care team, I have rushed back to chemotherapy infusions in hopes to stop the new area of cancer growth.
I reach out to your generous hearts to donate anything you can to help me and my family cope with this cancer and the effects of Covid-19, which has rendered all of us unable to find jobs and nearly hopeless.
With that little bit of hope I have left, I reach out to my village of Taiko (Japanese drums) community, family and friends of mine, my husband Toshi, and our children Connor, Colette and Esme.
We are all in this together and we love and thank you all!
About this GoFundMe Campaign
Teddy Yoshikami, a close friend of Choony’s for more than 30 years, along with other current and former Soh Daiko members, started this GoFundMe campaign to ease the financial burden on the family.
As anyone who knows her is well aware, Choony has a huge and beautiful heart and gives with abandon to her family, her friends, her children’s schools, and the taiko community. Choony was an active member of Soh Daiko for 15 years, from 1989 to 2004, and played a big part in making Soh Daiko the group it is today.
