Friends of Coney Island

Hi, my name is Victoria and I'm fundraising to Save Coney Island Pool. Here is how we've allocated funds so far:
  • Goal 1: Make a Coney Island documentary $1500
"History In Your Own Backyard" produces documentary videos on historic sites throughout the Midwest. This is the largest database of documentary history videos in the nation with over 650 videos on everything from one room school houses to cathedrals. The company approached the owners of Coney several years ago to produce a documentary video on the history of the site but there was no interest. After it was announced they were closing, they contacted them again but there was still no response. They also contacted the CSO but received no reply. In a nutshell, the sponsor of the video receives the master copy of the documentary to use as they please. The video would also be shared on their YouTube Channel which has over 20,000 subscribers, it would be archived at the state library in Columbus for future generations to enjoy and the link from the YouTube video would be sent to over 14,000 school superintendents, principals, history teachers, mayors, council members, tourism bureaus, chambers and historical societies in Hamilton County and 177 other counties throughout the Midwest.
  • Goal 2: Distribute yard signs + promotional materials $1000
  • Goal 3: Save Coney Island Pool billboards $3000
  • Goal 4: LQ Consults (based on the following testimonial) $1000
"I recommend LQ Consulting and President Laure Quinlivan to any business, citizen group or government organization seeking great Community Engagement with neighborhood residents. Laure used her communication skills and knowledge of government and development from her work as a city council member, to get residents a seat at the table with the developer building 40 new luxury homes on Walworth Avenue. Six weeks after Laure organized our first meeting with him, the developer finally signed a Community Benefits Agreement." - Jeff Surd, East End Area Council | Community Engagement
  • Goal 5: Ongoing operational costs $500
