Friends of Phil Rohrs... He needs you

Phil Rohrs is truly in need of our help. He experienced a debilitating stroke while traveling in remote Philippines. He needs help to get immediate medical attention and to get him home. His friends and family are rallying for him and this fundraising will be instrumental in getting him home and on his way to recovery.

Current Situation. He was struck suddenly with a severe stroke on Wednesday November 6. The Philippine Coast Guard was able to transport him to a small hospital in Butuan City. This is far from any modern medical facilities. He is in a maternity wardroom as that is the only space available. We are #87 on a waiting lists to get him to a better local facility. The stroke may be severe, and he has lost his memory and also his speech. Time is critically important for best chance at recovery. He really needs our help. He is accompanied by his dear friend Mercy and she has been very helpful in getting us information. Update: Phil is improving and the medical evac is not necessary, see more in updates below.

Our Goal. Our goal is to get first to a better facility and then arrange medical transport home. The international medical transport is very expensive. Once Phil is home any additional funds will also be used for non-covered overseas bills, treatment and rehabilitation.

Phil: The Aficionado. Phil has been volunteered for many years at Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup competitions. He has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to unpack and sort beer, and been a Steward and Table Captain serving beer to competition judges. He's been involved in countless other homebrew and commercial beer, mead, and wine competitions and festivals, at all levels from carrying ice to helping organize the event. He cheerfully volunteers to help in any way that is needed. Phil has always been a gregarious and inclusive presence, helping everyone from the general public to brewers to judges have a fun and successful event.
