Hello Friends of Taix!
We are raising funds to help pay for our Historic Cultural Monument (HCM) nomination for Taix French Restaurant. From its humble beginnings in the heart of LA’s Frenchtown in 1927, to its current Echo Park location since 1964, this essential neighborhood gathering spot has served amazing home-style French cuisine to Angelenos from all walks of life. Their 321 lounge is a favorite destination where locals and visitors alike congregate to drink, watch Dodger games, celebrate family events, and listen to comedy and live music. Taix is also the epicenter of the Echo Park Rising music festival where the newest local bands make their debut.
Our goal is to preserve the original structure and keep the restaurant intact, with any new development by the owners, Holland Partner Group, respectfully incorporated into the existing building - instead of their current plan of total demolition . This requires an open mindset and creative solutions, but it can be done! Our application was taken under consideration by the Cultural Heritage Commission on October 15 - Bravo! This means Taix is now protected while the historic nomination proceeds to the next step.
Taix means so much to so many, from all different walks of life. Like the Pantry, Philippe’s, Cole’s, Tom Bergin’s or the French Market Place, these institutions are so much more than a restaurant; they are LEGACY BUSINESSES, iconic to the neighborhood and contributing to the unique cultural fiber of the City. Taix has been bringing the community together for over 100 years.
Thanks in advance for contributing to our non-profit sponsor, you can find out what we're up to at The Silver Lake Heritage Trust . Our mission: to preserve and protect the historic, architectural and cultural resources of the Silver Lake, Echo Park and Elysian Valley neighborhoods of Los Angeles, California.
Please let's save this important landmark.
No donation is too small,
Thank you and Merci.
