Last night, Wright's Indian Art Gallery in Albuquerque, NM was broken into and burgled, causing thousands of dollars of damage and the theft of a large amount of one-of-a-kind, handmade Native American Art.
Dan and Lauren Hyman are the owners of Wright's. Like so many in today's complex business environment, they are trying to weather these difficult financial times and provide for their young family. What they are experiencing as a result of this could prove to be crippling, so I am asking on their behalf for your help and generousity to help them in their critical time of need.
In Lauren's words:
"At 9:43 pm on April 21st, Wright's Indian Art Gallery was broken into. Video shows that it was at least two people, one driving a dark-colored truck, the other dressed in all dark clothes with a ski mask on and gloves. The burglar smashed through the glass of the front door with a large crowbar, and when he couldn't get in that way, he broke the framing of the door and pushed it in, crawling into the store underneath the broken door.
He proceeded through the store, ripping coverings off of the countertop, breaking handmade, one of a kind jewelry, paintings, and pottery, and smashing through the glass of our main display counter that was made in 1912. Aside from the thousands of dollars in damage, he managed to steal thousands more in one of a kind, authentic, handmade Native American art."
Wright's Indian Art is the oldest, continuously operating business in Albuquerque. This is our 113th year of business since opening in 1907.
For over a century, loyal clients have relied on Wright’s for uncompromising authenticity, quality, value, and truly personal service. Whether you spend $12 or $12,000, your choice will have been beautifully handmade by an individual Native American artist, including many established award-winners, and up-and-coming talents.
PLEASE SHARE... This is NOT a victimless crime. This loss will not only affect Dan, Lauren and their family, but many Native American Artists that rely on Wright's Indian Art to support their families. Any size donation, $5, $20, $50 or more helps not only the Hyman's, but ultimately the Native American Artists and their families.
