Help us Help Lisa Kaczerwaski!
On Monday January 11, 2016 Lisa was not feeling well. She had a cold, and a sore throat. She went to her Dr. and was told it was just a viral and it would run its course. On Tuesday she was feeling worse and she started to lose her voice so she went to urgent care. She was diagnosed with Strep Throat. Wednesday January 13th she woke up with a very large lump on her neck, and a fever of 104.5. She was taken right to FF Thompson Hospital where they ran a lot of tests, and she was very dehydrated. Thompson told her that they were sending her via ambulance to Strong Hospital because her blood count was dangerously low, and they were pretty sure she had Leukemia. Thursday January 14th she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Lisa's nightmare began with 2 Bone Marrow biopsy’s to see what stage the Leukemia was at, and what the plan of action was going to be. She was told that she will be staying at Wilmot Cancer Hospital for at least 30 days if not longer. She then started chemo and antibiotics as well as a blood transfusion. She has had a total of 5 blood transfusions to try and get her levels up to where they need to be. She finished her first round of Chemo on Friday January 22nd. She will undergo another Bone Marrow biopsy to see if the Chemo is working. She is going to need a stem cell transplant as well as more chemo to get her into remission. Lisa has always been the one to help everyone. She always puts herself last, and now it is time to help her out.
Lisa Kaczerwaski is a single mom of one daughter whom has diabetes. Not only does Lisa have to pay out of pocket for her daughters diabetic supplies monthly she now has to pay for her Co pays for chemo and the medications that she is going to need. She will be out of work for 6 months or longer. Monies donated will go to Lisa to help pay for her medical bills during this difficult time.
