On October 11th, Isaac had to undergo a total reconstruction of the knee, similar to what a person who was in a motorcycle accident would have had to endure.
After the initial surgery it was discovered that Isaac had active bleeding of the artery and compartmental syndrome. Both resulting from a blood clot after the initial surgery a few weeks ago.
Isaac had a surgery today at noon (10/24) to assess the damage. The news was not what they wanted to hear. They had to remove 25% of 2 calf muscles. It is now known that 100% recovery will not be possible. Isaac will likely never be able to run or jump again, which means Soccer, the love of his life, will be out of the question.
The surgeon has described Isaac's situation as 1% of 1% so rare that he has never encountered it and the second worst he has seen doesn't even come close to the severity of Isaac's condition.
Goose will undergo another surgery on Sunday to decipher whether the muscles are continuing to die or if they are stabilizing. As tissue dies, removal will be a necessity. Once everything has stabilized, they will be able to close the incision and Isaac will be measured for a prosthetic brace that he will inevitable wear for the foreseeable future. He will be in the hospital at minimum another week. This is the best case scenario. Doctor's are working very hard to try their very best for Isaac to be able to keep his leg. There is a possibility of amputation from the knee down.
Isaac is a superstar Soccer athlete; Soccer is his passion! The family is facing many expenses from the medical side of things, not to mention that during this time, neither parent is able to work much. Kori changed careers late summer and has yet to accrue vacation time and Mike works for the school district, albeit he is able to take a medical leave, it is unpaid. With their insurance, they must first pay an $8,000 deductible before anything is covered, and after that, insurance only covers 60% of the bill. Come January 1st, this will all start over and the $8,000 deductible will be due yet again.
It is incredibly difficult to witness such amazing people going through something so tragic. Kori and Mike have done so much for so many people, that it is now our time to come together as a community to help them through this extremely difficult situation. They have volunteered in Children's Orphanage's where they have supplied food, school supplies, clothing, etc. They also have volunteered at Vacation Bible Study where they once again donated supplies, helped set up computers, as well as teach children about God.
Mike and Kori have welcomed so many into their home, adults and children, with open arms, no matter the situation, just so these people have had a place to live. They are two of the most compassionate people I have ever met and are always there to lend a helping hand to others. This family has always been such a positive light, they choose to always see the good in others and deserve to be shown the same generosity and compassion that they have bestowed upon us.

We will continue to pray for a miracle, that God is able to heal Isaac, and guide the doctors mind and hands to do what they need to in order for Isaac to keep his leg, We also pray that God protects Isaac's spirit! He is naturally a very positive young man, and we pray that is not taken away from him during this treacherous time.
