Michelle's Africa Trip: SOHI Uganda

"Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause." Isaiah 1:17 ESV

Many years ago a small seed of hope, a desire, a willingness to go to Africa was planted in my soul.  The agenda  was not clear; although I have questioned that many times. Hope, like a tiny seed, had been deeply planted in my heart, but battled in my mind; always seeming to big, too selfish, or just too... much.  Who was I to go? and for what? I did not know. 

But last year that seed broke ground.   A friend had just returned from a trip to Uganda. She spoke of an organization called Sisters of Hope International whose mission is empowering vulnerable women with income-generating opportunities, so that they can provide for the needs of their family; hoping to transform their communities and culture through the saving power of Jesus Christ.   "You should come..." she said.  And with that, the dream so often dismissed, began to break ground and sprout.  

Seeds take time and fruit is brought forth in due season. I believe that seasonis comming! This August, I will depart for Entebbe, Uganda to walk alongside the SOHI women in Kampala and Masaka Uganda with prayer, encouragement, training, and resources. 

Some sow, some tend, some water, some harvest.  I can not do it alone.  I am asking for you to partner with me and SOHI. Please pray for myself, this team, and the women we will be meeting.   We seek wisdom, discernment, truth and grace as we join the the women of Uganda and unpack the Word of God with them. 

Preparations are underway. Shots have been done, and tickets are bought! If you would like to support me in this journey financially, I would be humbled to partner with you.  Funds donated toward the goal will be used to offset airfare,  visa, transportation, lodging, and food costs. Any additional funds recieved before August 6th will be used to purchase Bibles for the women of Masaka in their native tonge as we are able. 

Your encouagement, prayer, and financial support express the heart of God; the giver of all good gifts.  And I am so grateful for it.  As others sow into this journey, joining me in prayer and support, I am learning that dreams are a gift not given only for the dreamer, but for many. They are a seed of hope, planted, watered and fed to bring forth abundant fruit in it's time; beyond what we could ask or imagine.
